AGAINST ALL ODDS – PHIL COLLINS
By Broomy - UK
INTRO - (Ebm) - (Ab) X 2
(Bbm) (Cm)
How can i just let you walk away,
(C#) (Ebm)
just let you leave without a trace
(F#) (Ab) (Fm) (Bbm)
When i stand here taking every breath with you, ooh
(Ebm) (F#) (Ab)
You're the only one who really knew me at all
(Bbm) (Cm)
How can you just walk away from me,
(C#) (Ebm)
When all i can do is watch you leave
(F#) (Ab) (Fm) (Bbm)
Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain and even shared the tears
(Ebm) (F#) (Ab)
You're the only one who really knew me at all
(C#) (Eb)
So take a look at me now, oh there's just an empty space
(Bbm) (F#)
And there's nothing left here to remind me,
(Ebm) (Ab)
Just the memory of your face
(C#) (Eb)
Ooh take a look at me now, well there's just an empty space
(Bbm) (F#)
And you coming back to me is against all odds
(Ebm) (Ab)
And that's what i've got to face
(the rest of the song follows the same pattern)

Yep, capo is easier if you have one. Ebm is a pain in the backside.
For the beginners who don't understand the 2 previous posts. If you put a capo on the first fret and then play these chord shapes instead of the ones stated; Am,Bm,C,Dm,F,G,Em,Am,Dm,F,G for the verses. C,D,Am,F,Dm,G for the chorus.

I found that you can play it pretty much exactly the same, and its easier, it you use a capo on the first fret and work around that. Anyway, if I get time i'll make my own version to show everyone what I mean.

I appreciate the chords without a capo though. I use them to play piano and we don’t get a capo!
