Verse 1:
F Gm C F
I hid myself from failure and fear
      Bb Gm C F
Oh my dear you’re a threat to the bad in us all
F Gm C F
They tell themselves that each word from your lips
        Bb Gm C F
Or the grace in your eyes overcomes any fall

Pre-Chorus:
Dm Am Bb F
All through the twilight you’re listening for me
Gm F E Am
Darling, go to sleep
Dm Am Bb F
Cradled by moonlight, I’m dreaming we’ll be
Gm F E A
Loved so deep

Chorus:
  D D/C# D7/C Em/B
Floating and fighting, like a kite on a string
          Gm/Bb D/A E A7
‘Till you cut through my tether and changed everything
         D D/C# D7/C Em/B
From the sky you looked small, but I loved you the same
      Gm/Bb D/A E A7
So I darted back quickly to spell out your name
          D D/C# D7/C Em/B
And when they say that I’m just a terrible kite
       Gm/Bb D/A E A7
You’ll tell them you’re proud of my marvelous flight

I made a few changes, right or wrong, I think it sounds a little cleaner. Instead of the pre chorus starting with F, I changed it to D minor, and thenn on fighting, I changed d/c to d7 and c#o to A. I think it sounds pretty good this way, even though its tough to interpret piano to guitar

Hey, here is a little explanation for kite. The o in the Eo should be superscript but Ultimate-Guitar does not allow that. The superscript o stands for Diminished or in this case Edim. A diminished chord has a flatted third and a flatted fifth. (eg. E would consist of E - G - Bb, C# would consist of C# - E - G) I'm explaining this without the aid of a piano right now so I may be off, but I'll check myself tomorrow when I have access to one. Someone who knows a little more about the piano may be able to do a better job with naming the chords. I was a little over my head naming them because Copeland didn't really follow a key in this song. But that is why I love them. Well I hope this helps. The Ben
