I love this song.

This song is soo pretty. The lyrics are captivating when sung with emotion. A very good and simple audition song.

WHEN I LOOK AT YOU - from Scarlet Pimpernel

I listened to Christine Andreas original recording of this song from the show. She does it as well as it can be done. It is quite pretty and starts out simple enough, but then it becomes somewhat over-wrought. The orchestra picks up and overshoots the drama and I think the song gets lost in its own self-importance. I think that cutting it down to a short audition piece would leave you stuck with the worst part of the song and there are better songs to show off a soprano voice. Too bad.

Nice for alto...

I heard this song on a music video for the 1982 version of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and fell in love with the song. So I found this nice arrangement of the song. While I wish there was a bit more on the left hand of the arrangement, I find it a good song for an alto. Being a soprano, I had it transposed up to a B flat major. If youre a soprano but want to sing this song, I recommend that key. Anyway...good song.
