Ravel composed this wonderful little Prelude in 1913 as
a conservatory test. The students where not allowed to
see the score before it was to be executed and the
tricky part about it is to read the score right to for
the hand crossings that must be applied to execute it
properly.
Hi Bernard! Thanks for this! I went searching because I haven't played this in years and it was so nice to track such a beautiful piece down! I got a bit confused though because it seems that the left hand for bars 17 and 18 are swapped around? There is every likelihood that either my original transcript or my own memory were incorrect though... but I just thought I would check in case it was an error and easily fixed. When I play the treble as is, it makes more sense if I play the left hand bar 18 for bar 17, and the left hand bar 17 for bar 18. Thanks for your work, it is much appreciated! Laura
