This piece is a choral setting of Thomas Hardy's poem "At a Lunar Eclipse." It is dedicated to my grandfather, who has been recovering from a stroke for nearly two years.
The music is meant to represent the cycle of a lunar eclipse:
- the earth's shadow enshrouds the moonlight
- light begins to return as the earth's shadow recedes
- the moon shines full once more
