Nocturn. Composed by Gerard Lopez. Duration 10 minutes. Published by Brotons & Mercadal (BK.100-045-170).

Price of the complete set - This piece, composed for an orchestra of young students, maintains a direct harmonic inspiration from French music, of which I am a great admirer: Faure, Franck, Debussy, Ravel and Duparc, among others. The chords with added notes, the modal passages, the chromatic harmonic links and the enharmonics are constant characteristics of this piece. Its structure follows an A-B-A'-C-B-A'-Coda form and is therefore similar to a rondo, with a mirror-like structure. The initial part A, which is presented three times throughout the piece in varied forms, is of a calmer and mysterious character evoking the nocturn ambience that gives name to the piece. The part B, of a bucolic and pastoral flaire, appears twice, and is written to imitate a sort of rhythmic plucking in 6/8, very typical of the Sicilian dance. The part C is the most melodic and sentimental.
