"Paul Tate has crafted the ""Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary"" based on the traditional Litany of Loreto. This piece can also be found on the recent CD Light in the Darkness, music and meditations for the Advent season by Paul in collaboration with Deanna Light. The structure for this setting is threefold: invocation (Lord, have mercy), intercessions, and refrain. Paul's compositional skill is obvious in this choir- and assembly-friendly, musically distinct litany that is simple to learn and sing. The variety of vocal texture adds interest throughout; a descant is offered in English or Latin over the refrain. Guitar pages are included to minimize page turns, or for keyboardists wishing to improvise an accompaniment.".
