A Hymn for Band. Composed by Jason K. Nitsch. Score only. Duration 3:50. Published by C. Alan Publications (CN.17841).

With a keen understanding of the developing band, Jason Nitsch has crafted a lovely original hymn for concert band. Full of lush jazzy harmonies, memorable melodies and a variety of textures, Casu Consulto will keep you interested from beginning to end.

In the fall of 2007 I was asked to write a piece for my good friend Rory Davis at Cinco Ranch Junior High School in Katy, Texas. I previously taught at the same school district with Mr. Davis and we collaborated on a commission a few years earlier for his band's performance at the Midwest Clinic. His only request for the piece was that it be slow and lyrical, which is somewhat out of my normal comfort zone. After several attempts to get started on his piece, I found it very difficult to get my footing on an idea that resonated with my own creativity and would be suitable for his group. Eventually Mr. Davis, being a good friend, relented and allowed me to compose something with a little more zip. The commission became 'Destination Cincopation' and that piece was completed and premiered in the spring of 2009. What does this have to do with Casu Consulto? Once work was completed on Destination Concopation, I finally got the idea that I had been searching for early on in the commission. In other words, once I no longer needed a slow lyrical work, I succeeded in writing one! Never one to miss an opportunity at mischief, I decided to call this new piece 'Casu Consulto' which translates to roughly 'Accidently, On Purpose.' - JKN.
