The 12th-century, Dorian-mode tune "Surgit in haec dies" provides the basis for this setting by Lynn Trapp. The four verses build from a soft unison to a four-part forte. An excellent choice for a choral prelude on Easter morning to contrast the entrance hymn—and exuberant burst of brass that will surely follow!
