Following in the tradition of Bortniansky's sacred concertos, it uses different tempos and keys over several contrasting movements, employing wordpainting and rich and colorful harmonies and textures typical of Gretchaninoff's other works. This is a major program piece that can constitute a separate section on a choral program by a fine college, university or professional choir.
