The existence of this work is known only from a photocopy of a photograph of a transcription apparently made in the pre-1945 Dresden State Library in the possession of Dr. Muska Mangano (Verona) who was Remo Giazotto's last assistant. The heading attributes the work to Albinoni. A stamp on the transcription or photograph attests the Dresden provenance of the material, but the authenticity of this document has been questioned by musicologists. A reproduction and discussion of this material is given in Nicola Schneider: La tradizione delle opere di Tomaso Albinoni a Dresda, Facoltà di musicologia dell'Università delgi studi di Pavia, Cremona 2007, pages 179-188. It is possible that G minor is only the key of the single movement; the sonata as a whole may be in a related major key such as B or E.
