Blue was written for the blind musical savant Derek Paravicini and is possibly the first concerto ever written for someone with profound learning difficulties. It is nonetheless a muscular and virtuosic concerto for piano and orchestra inspired by the music of George Gershwin. The world premiere took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London on 28th September 2011 with Derek Paravicini and the Orchestra of St John’s conducted by John Lubbock. A3 size.
