Chana, West Africa is the source for many rhythms throughout the world. In this book, ethnomusicologist and drumset artist Royal Hartigan, with the help of Ghanaian Master Drummers, Abraham Adzenyah and Freeman Donkor, have adapted West African rhythms to the drumset. Concentrating on four rhythmic groups -Sikyi, Adowa, Gahy and Akom- each chapter introduces the traditional instruments and rhythms of each style. Each drum and bell pattern is then adapted to its appropiate voice on the drumset.
