Franz Schubert. Military March Op.51 No. 1. Piano Duet. Sheet Music. Piano Duet. PF DUET. Franz Schubert.

Original

Schubert’s Op. 51 is comprised of three Military Marches, the first of these being one of the more popular pieces for piano four hands. It is has an instantly catchy theme, an infectious sense of exuberance and Schubert’s characteristic quirkiness. This theme is hardly militaristic, more a exagereted depiction of a soldier's march in its stiffness, prim jollity and pomp. Some may hear it as a comic or satirical creation but Schubert was intending to express a more festive picture of a military march, much like one in a parade. This exuberant piece is immense fun to play and a must have for Piano Duet players. Arranged for four-hands at the piano and edited by Louis Oesterle.
