Original

The Spinner. GR-3. , rhythm parts composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. 1809-1847. Arranged by Ward Swingle. For jazz choir. SATB choir with bass and drums. Set of rhythm parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press. NC.VJ1333-R. F. Mendelssohn. Level 4. SATB, bass and drums. "The Spinner" is the best known of the Mendelssohn piano pieces called "Songs Without Words. " As one might guess from the title, it suggests the continuous spinning of thread achieved through a relentless series of 8th notes. In my arrangement the singers underline this atmosphere by using light "oo" sounds.
