Original

A Bizet Organ Album arranged by Martin Setchell. For Organ. General collections. French. Intermediate. Book. Published by Kevin Mayhew Publishers. KV.1400317. ISBN 1840038713. French. Georges Bizet. 1838-1875. studied organ at the Paris Conservatoire and was even awarded a first prize for his playing. However, he soon forsook the organ in favor of opera, and even the few minor works he published for organ were also designated for pianoforte as an alternative. This is a pity, for Bizet was one of the most imaginative orchestrators, especially in his use of wind instruments. This volume 'reclaims' for the organ ten of Bizet's most famous movements which lend themselves well to the instrument. They are selected from the operas Carmen and The Pearl Fishers, the incidental music to L'Arlesienne, the Symphony in C and Jeux d'enfants. Adagietto from 'L'Arlésienne'. Adagio from Symphony in C. Au fond du temple saint from 'The Pearl Fishers'. Berceuse 'La Poupée' from 'Jeux d'enfants'. Entr'acte to Act 3 of 'Carmen'. Intermezzo from 'L'Arlésienne'. March from 'The Pearl Fishers'. Menuet from 'L'Arlésienne'. Overture to 'Carmen'. The flower song from 'Carmen'.
