Song of the Sea Mariner. Soon Hee Newbold.

Original

Song of the Sea Mariner composed by Soon Hee Newbold. For string orchestra. Orchestra. FJH Developing Strings. Score only. Full set. score and parts. also available. ST6112. Grade 2.5. Score only. Duration 2 minutes, 30 seconds. Published by The FJH Music Company Inc. FJ.ST6112S. Those who have spent their life at sea understand the strong call of the ocean. The sea is so vast and beautiful, but haunting as well. At times it is serene and still, but in an instant it can turn into a ferocious beast that kills. A wondrous work of nature, the sea brims with life, from the simplest organisms to monsters of the deep. Song of the Sea Mariner has a touch of sadness in its melody, reflecting the respect and love relationship mariners have for the sea. The pizzacato should be very steady throughout the piece. Perform the melody with appropriate breaths and phrasing, as if singing a song. Emphasize all moving lines throughout, which represent the endless flow of the ocean. Slightly more advanced than Beginning Strings, this series begins to involve more position work and a slightly more complex rhythmic figures. Rehearsal piano is often provided. Ideal for middle school and smaller high school programs. Grade 2 - 2.5.
