This edition retains the subdued harmonic and rhythmic character that is present in the original. It includes a brief tenor solo in a restatement of the opening text "Steal away, steal away home. I ain't got long tuh stay here. " Great care has been taken to preserve the traditional language and dialect. This work would be fitting for a concert of sacred music, or as an introit to a worship service.
