Original

Everything Is Jumpin'. Recorded by Artie Shaw. Edited by Myles Collins. Arranged by Artie Shaw. For jazz big band. Swing. Difficult. Published by Lush Life. JL.LL-1238. Everything is Jumpin' is a very rare chart from the Artie Shaw book. A cut down version of the arrangement was featured in the 1940 film "Second Chorus", though this full version of the chart extends to just over 5 minutes long. This chart has been transcribed from Shaw's live 1939 performance at the Cafe Rouge, and has been adapted to bring it up to 8 brass voices from the original 6. The reeds are scored for CAATT and alto 2 and tenor 1 have brief clarinet doubles in the final shout chorus. The chart features solo space for clarinet, trumpet, tenor, piano and trombone. All solos are improvised from the chords provided. This chart can be used as a great concert piece to feature some soloists, or else as a foot-tapping dance chart for the Lindy crowd. Ranges. Trumpets 1-4. C6, C6, C6, G5. Trombones 1-4.
