The Violin 3 part is the same as the Viola part in case a Viola player is not available. For the first verse, each instrument carries the melody for 4 measures, beginning with the cello. The Viola. Violin 3. then takes the melody while the cello adds harmony. The next 4 measures add the Violin 2 on the melody and lastly broadening into full 4-part harmony with Violin 1 finishing out the chorus on the melody. After a short interlude the piece continues through the song again in full 4-part harmony concluding with a repeat of the interlude and chorus. This is an excellent arrangement for a beginning to intermediate string group since all notes can be played in the first position on all instruments. Ranges are as follows. Violin 1--G4 to G5.
