Chi Mi Frena. Flute sheet music.

Original

Chi Mi Frena composed by Judith Katz. For flute quartet. Level 3. Published by Imagine Music. IG.IMF101. The Bel Canto period ruled the opera world of the early to middle 1800's and Gaetano Donizetti was one of its most famous composers. Lucia di Lammermoor, one of Donizetti's most popular operas had its premier in 1835. It was based on the Sir Walter Scott novel, The Bride of Lammermoor. The famous sextet, Chi Mi Frena from Act II has become one the most famous opera arias of all times and it's been used for many years in countless Hollywood and television parodies as well. Donizetti wrote this aria for vocal ensemble and light orchestral accompaniment, unlike some of the Bel Canto arias, which highlighted the flute and soprano, almost making the flute an extension of the soprano voice. This is a good flute ensemble arrangement, written for the young flutist in mind, to foster good ensemble playing, musicianship and lyricism.
