High Country. Ralph Hultgren. Grade 3.

Original

High Country composed by Ralph Hultgren. For concert band. Brolga Music Concert Band Series. Grade 3. Score and set of parts. Duration 4. 37. Published by Brolga Music Publishing Company. BL.YMB010. ISBN M720038094. "High Country" was commissioned by the Bombala Bicentennial Arts Council in conjunction with the Arts Council of New South Wales for the Bombala Community Schools Band, John Judge director. The music is written to depict the high country in which the small rural town of Bombala is located. Hill covered in snow gums, valleys rich with flora and fauna and bright summer and snow-filled winter days are part of Bomala's life. A majestic theme represents the spirit of the high country with pulsing rhythms accompanying it. A lyrical vocal middle section is more contemplative and suggestive with its early pioneers reflecting on the rugged beauty of the area. The main theme returns with its enthusiastic accompaniment and carries the piece to a boisterous conclusion.
