Original

Ricercare 7 composed by Domenico Gabrielli. 1651-1690. Arranged by Michael & Kimberly Davenport. For solo bass clarinet. Classical. baroque period. Score. 3 pages. Published by Alea Publishing. A7.ALEA1032. Domenico Gabrielli was a virtuoso cellist and composer of the baroque period. His works for 'cello are among the first developed, challenging works for the instrument. The Ricercare 7. 1689. is an excellent baroque work which is very effective in transcription for solo bass clarinet. The piece is not virtuosic, but does provide an excellent exercise in breath control, as well as exposure to the baroque style. This transcription does require an extended-range instrument, although not frequently. The bass clarinetist using an instrument without extended range could perform the piece with very few octave adjustments. Double-stops are written out as grace notes, and may be included at the discretion of the performer. Published loose-leaf to prevent page turns.
