Elements composed by Ulrich Wedlich. 1954-. For Guitar. Intermediate. Sheet Music. Published by Zimmermann. PE.ZM35090. ISBN M-010-35090-5. Ulrich Wedlich, guitarist and composer from Stuttgart, was born in 1954 and studied at the music academies in Stuttgart and Vienna. In addition to concerts, performances, and productions of his own works, he plays with guitarist Peter Schick in the Schick-Wedlich Duo, which concentrates mainly on Spanish guitar music. In cross-over projects. such as the dance project 'Rite of Change'. he also works with music from India and Japan and from jazz and rock. 'The original idea of writing 'Elements' arose from the need for new, short pieces for teaching. They were to be made up of the kind of melodic and harmonic material that appeals to and motivates young people with a lively touch of interesting percussive playing techniques. The mini-pieces gradually grew into this present version, which - played as a cycle - can be included very effectively in a concert programme. The titles of the individual movenents. Invocation I - Wood I - Water I - Metal I - Earth I - Fire I. are borrowed from the culture of China. They can provide inspiration for the energy and performance of an interpretation. ' -- Ulrich Wedlich. Six intermediate miniatures with percussive elements. Invocation I. Wood I. Water I. Metal I. Earth I. Fire I.
