She arranged those letters of the name ZIMMERMANN MUSIKVERLAG which can be transferred to notes--namely E A. S E A G--into a free piano composition. Cryptograms as a means to create a sequence of notes for a composition have had a long tradition - as can be seen in B A C H. In her short piece, Ruth Zechlin opposes thoughtful lyric elements to active and virtuoso passages.
