Sonata Op.109. 2nd mvmt. Gabriel Faure. Bass Clarinet sheet music.

Original

Sonata Op.109. 2nd mvmt. composed by Gabriel Faure. 1845-1924. Arranged by Michael & Kimberly Davenport. For bass clarinet & piano. Classical. 20th century. Piano score and part. 8 pages. score. 2 pages. part. Published by Alea Publishing. A7.ALEA1064. The 'cello sonata Op.109 is one of the later works of Gabriel Faure. 1845-1924. , displaying his compositional style at its most advanced. While the piece as a whole is idiomatic to the 'cello, the second movement, a beautiful Andante is quite effective in this transcription for bass clarinet and piano. The movement would make a lovely addition to a recital program, perhaps as an encore. An extended-range instrument is required to maintain the range of the original work, but a few phrases could easily be adjusted to allow the piece to be played on an instrument to low E-flat. The original key has been maintained, placing the bass clarinetist in the comfortable key of a minor.
