Arpeggione Sonata. Franz Schubert. Cello Solo sheet music. Piano Accompaniment sheet music.

Original

Arpeggione Sonata composed by Franz Schubert. 1797-1828. Edited by Bernhard Guenther. For cello and piano. Classical Period. Set of performance parts. Bowings. D.821. 34 pages. Published by Edition Peters. PE.P04623. With bowings. Classical Period. 9x12 inches. The Arpeggione is a six-stringed instrument, fretted and tuned as a guitar is, but bowed. thus it more closely resembles the bass viola da gamba than it does the violoncello. It was invented around 1823, by the Viennese guitar maker Johann Georg Staufer, and enjoyed a brief vogue, for perhaps a decade. The present sonata is the only notable piece extant for the instrument. it is now commonly played on the violoncello. Violoncello and Piano.
