Georgia's Tango. Piano Solo sheet music. Intermediate.

Original

Georgia's Tango composed by Rosanne Irene Brown. For Piano Solo. Repertoire. Early Intermediate. Published by Rosanne Irene Brown. S0.23767. "Created for a student named Georgia, this tango is a delightfully patterned work that makes use of the harmonic minor scale with a strikingly Spanish flourish. With a persistent dotted rhythm in the left hand and eighth notes in the right hand at the beginning, early intermediate or even late elementary students will be eager to conquer its gentle rhythmic challenge. The middle section moves around, but is repetitive in its use of positions, so that this is easily memorized. I like to teach it by rote and then let the students look at the music after they have mastered it. They always say, ""Oh, my goodness. I am playing THAT. "" This piece is a great jumping off point for those students who want to improvise in the tango style. they already have a left hand pattern and can improvise their own unique melodies over it, either alone or with one student doing the left hand part and the other making up the melody in the right.
