Scorched by the punishing sun, parched by lack of rainfall, and ravaged by arid winds, these areas might seem incapable of sustaining anything more than the simplest forms of life. But, at night, deserts reveal a fascinating secret. As the relentless sun disappears from the western sky, all types of exotic plants and animals spring to life, eagerly celebrating the precious hours of cool darkness before dawn brings yet another harsh day. The themes and quasi arch form of Desert Voices attempt to reflect the desert's nightly cycle, the period beginning at dusk and lasting until dawn.
