Er war zunachst Trompeter in der koniglichen Musikkapelle der Marine, spater Theorielehrer am Konservatorium in Stavanger. Seit 1981 lebt er als freischaffender Komponist. Die "Sonatine" wurde 1995 von Dag Jensen beim Jahreskongress International Doublereed Society in Rotterdam uraufgefuhrt und von ihm bei Dabringhaus & Grimm auf CD eingespielt.
