Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun. Claude Debussy. C Trumpet sheet music. English Horn sheet music.

Original

Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun composed by Claude Debussy. 1862-1918. Arranged by Serge Ollive. For chamber orchestra. Flute. piccolo, oboe. English horn, A clarinet. B flat clarinet, bassoon, 2 horns, C trumpet, 4 violins, 2 violas, 2 cellos, bass. Score and parts. Composed 2011. 92 pages. Duration 8. 00. Published by Lighthouse Music Publications. LH.LMP-OR1102S-P. Inspired by the poem "L'apres-midi d'un faune" by French poet S. Mallarme, this orchestral work was the basis for the ballet Afternoon of a Faun, choreographed by Njinsky. It is one of Debussy's most famous and well-loved works. This reorchestration finds a new clarity in the smaller orchestral size. Beyond the fact that it allows 16 musicians to all be soloists in their own right, the orchestration is intended to rediscover the original work. While the musical text is retained, the orchestral colour is totally recreated.
