Bach, Johann Christoph Friedrich - Anglaise. Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach. Piano Solo sheet music.

Original

Bach, Johann Christoph Friedrich - Anglaise composed by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach. 1732-1795. Arranged by Performer - Pat Holmberg. For Piano,Piano Solo. Classical Period. Performance. Published by Patricia Tanttila Holmberg. S0.52989. This is a cheerful piece in 6. 8 time, with a nice lilt and distinctive melody. Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach was born in 1732, the same year as Haydn. So he was definitely on the cusp of the transition from the Baroque period to the classical period. He certainly is one of the lesser known composers in that period, but evidently was quite well-respected, prolific, and made his living with music. According to Wikipedia, "In 1750, William, Count of Schaumburg-Lippe appointed Johann Christoph harpsichordist at Bückeburg, and in 1759, he became concertmaster". Sadly, Wikipedia also says that "A significant portion of J. C. F. Bach's output was lost in the WWII destruction of the Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung in Berlin, where the scores had been on deposit since 1917. Whatever, I like this short piece.
