Original

Piano Trio in G Hob. XV. 25. "Gypsy Trio". composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. 1732-1809. Edited by Klaus Burmeister. Piano Trios. For Violin, Cello, Piano. This edition. Urtext. Set of parts. Duration circa 14 minutes. Published by Edition Peters. PE.P11097. ISBN M-014-10907-3. This work was originally published in 1795 by the London firm of Longman & Broderip. A few months later Artaria of Vienna issued the trio in an editon almost certainly based on the London print. The present edition is thus based on the London print while drawing on the Vienna edition for purposes of comparison. It transpires that there is little point in consulting the other prints or hand-written copies to produce a text of maximum fidelity, for the Haydn Complete Edition revealed that all of them derive directly or indirectly from the London print. Editorial additions are indicated typographically by dotted lines or brackets, and questionable passages are discussed in the editorial commentary, as are all special decisions on the part of the editor. Zigeunertrio. Set of parts.
