Mit dieser Sammlung klassischer Stucke wurde beabsichtigt, den Cello-Anfangern schon fruh Zugang zur Musik der grossen Meister der Wiener Klassik zu ermoglichen. Da die einzelnen Stucke unterschiedliche Schwierigkeitskriterien aufweisen konnten sie nicht ganz progressiv geordnet werden - manche, die grifftechnisch im eher einfachen Bereich anzusiedeln sind, sind bogen- und phrasierungstechnisch bereits ziemlich anspruchsvoll. Auch wichtige musikalische Inhalte wie Dynamik, nicht ganz einfache Rhythmik, Einsatze nach Pausen oder auch die Praxis der langen Vorschlage konnen hier bereits erlernt werden. Prinzipiell sind alle Stucke in der ersten Lage moglich, wer allerdings schon das Lagenspiel beherrscht, sollte manche Stellen besser in anderen Lagen ausfuhren.
